BE PART OF THE SOLUTION

and transform society

So you finally woke up and feel confused

You don't want to say the wrong thing for fear of being persecuted but you also can't remain silent for fear of the same. You are comfortable with the idea that all white people are racist, but you never want to be called racist. When you are called out for saying something offensive, harmful or racist, you become defensive, mortified, ashamed and angry in rapid and continuous cycles. You are afraid to do anything. You're afraid to return to the safe bubble that is now labeled privilege, afraid to speak up and afraid to stay silent. Every move you have feels stuck.

LET'S GET REAL HERE:

Do you feel confused about what people are saying about race?

Do you question yourself on whether it’s your fault that black and brown people are suffering?

Do you have a hard time differentiating between racism and prejudice?

Are you having a hard time understanding why - even though it’s not your fault, racism is your responsibility?

Do you feel like you can’t say anything to black or brown folk, or ask questions for fear of saying the *wrong* thing?

Are you afraid of taking action, unclear on what to do - and still feel like you aren’t doing enough?

The stakes are just too high.

You know that the stakes are too high for black and brown bodies in this country for you to continue to do nothing. You also know this is not the way you want to live your life. You are a good person; a brave person and you want to make sure the world remembers you this way. You need to fight for what is good before it's too late and you've done more harm than good.

The issue of race feels insurmountable and confusing. You need a structure that helps you understand how systemic oppression operates, what your role in it is and practical steps to dismantling it. You also need to realize that the political is deeply personal, which is to say you have everything you need to dismantle systemic oppression and white supremacy within you. I understand that we have all internalized a racist system without our consent. I will never shame you for your internal biases, only make you aware of them and how to shift them.
